Aggregate Series, Round 3 Recap
Race 3 on Sunday was a little lower on numbers than usual, I think the dreaded cold and flu season is taking its toll. That was not reflected in the quality battles on the track.
With only seconds between the top four in A Men led home by Jackson Caldwell followed by Rohan Hollis- Damien Gibson-Tim Klein, Jeremy Pappin had a good hitout and Kieren Bamford crashed hard early in the race but still punched out a strong race.
Mark Fury took out the B Men chased by Thorell Lees and Nic Dew spurred on by the squeals of Bobbie Pappin. Mo Baldock starting to show those extra kays, David Siladi, Andrew Greenfield and Lenny Pederson all had strong hitouts, and you could have thrown a blanket over the final four of Wayne Atherton, Mark Stephenson, Daniel Gibson and Jeff Mcaliece.
Lennie Dunn was fastest of the C Men from newcomers Jacob Sinclair, Anthony Caldwell and Gerard Op de Coul, followed by yours truly then Peter Gifford who’s rear tube decided to show its face through the tyre but still managed to limp home.
In the A Women Bobbie Pappin set a blinding pace for the first lap trying to pick off as many B men possible but the top order got back through, she also had a near miss when Kieren bit the dust in front of her. Sarah Mott is posting some very consistent times followed by Jodie Bray.
B Women saw Kerrie Copley get line honours with Sonja Mock not far behind.
In the Juniors A saw Lachlan Op de Coul finish ahead of Bailey Copley, B saw the win for Caelan Dew from Josh Fury and Jake Harriss, C was won by Logan Baldock from the always polite Mikaela Lees who nearly ended up in the sticks letting me past at the old BMX track.
I think everyone agreed that the 5K track is longer in reverse but it is a nice change to have had some rain on the track to settle the dust!
Looking forward to the next round on Sunday May 31st at the Coomealla MTB Short Track, forward layout. See you there.
With Regards
