President’s report, May 2014

Start training for the Coomie Club 3HR Enduro – September 21st!  Promotion for our Coomealla Club 3Hr Enduro starts June, a mail out will be sent to Club members and past competitors, shortly. We ask all members to do their best to get as many people as possible interested in this event, not only riders but sponsors and spectators, this is to be our biggest and best 3 Hr Enduro yet.

Don’t forget the club needs more sponsors,
so if you know someone that might consider supporting our club’s concept of sport for the whole family then, be upfront and ask them. The boss, or that business next door with the big sign, get in there and give it a go. We ask for a small $200 contribution, we give them space on our trailhead sign and allocate them 5 double sided stickers on our track marker posts and on occasion a place on our website home page. Not bad for $200.

  • Great work from our Bike SA Enduro riders, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of May with,

o   Damien Gibson coming a very creditable 6th in the 12 Hr overall Adult solo male section,

o   Mike Osborne and Grant Brooks the “Mountainless Men” coming 6th in the Duo 12Hr section,

o   Lenny Pedersen and Matt Leeder the “Back Markers” coming 9th ,

o   Kieren and Nick the “Flatlanders” placing 10th, and

o   Rohan Hollis acquitting himself extremely well in 13th place in the 6Hr solo adult male section on Sunday.

  • Sunday the 18th of May saw Round 4 and our first Merbein track event for the year. Thanks to the Mildura Rural City Council for granting permission to hold this event on this track. The track was short and with 38 riders it wasn’t long between timing line crossings. Jason Dawes led for most of the race with Tyler Beruldsen on his tail. Tyler finally wore Jason down leaving room for Matt Leeder to also overtake Jason to finish 2nd with Jason in 3rd on his new bike.
  • It was great again to see some new entrants and encouraging seeing so many U/17 and U/13 riders improving each event.
  • Club members are working diligently on our Coomealla Track management plan which should come to fruition soon. Please remember that sections of the track have been closed for cultural reasons and we implore everyone to take care not to impede on the closed areas.

Remember, – get fit, Keep fit, ride your Mountain Bike.
