President’s report, July 2014
Coomie Club 3Hr Enduro September 21st – The Committee has been busy preparing for the 3 Hr Enduro, anyone with any ideas or contributions can contact Nick Dew at any time to offer assistance.
This month’s event held on the 20th July was at the Merbein Hill in reverse. It is great to see such a roll up to a local event with 50 Competitors. Some fast and furious riding with Sam Barnden home from Uni. giving Jason Dawes a workout and getting the better of him over the 8 laps to finish just in front.
• Young Charlie Vandenburg made his racing debut and did some great laps on a tiny bike, he left all the seniors impressed. Josh Fury had a mishap that incurred a minor arm injury but still finished the event. Well done to the young guns.
• Matt Leeder has put out an interesting challenge after he sent a photo of himself at Mt Torrens Adelaide. The challenge is to send a photo of yourself from an interesting location somewhere, but you have to be wearing a club hoody or jersey. Come on everyone this could be the start of a new club competition.
• A recent photo post by Lachlan French at the Coomie track has upped the stakes with a large number of likes. Keep it up everyone.
• It is good to see our members going away to ride at events, I believe Matt may have entered unintentionally in a class above his rank but the experienced will no doubt prove to be a beneficial in the long run.
• Big thankyou to the Bendigo Community Bank at Wentworth for supporting our club with a grant for $1500 for the purchase of more transponders. Thanks to Genelle for her great work in writing the application for this grant and achieving this result. Unfortunately Genelle was away and was unable to attend the presentation dinner so Nick, Jodie Raye and me attended, it was a gala night attended by many.
• Nick Algate and other Members of the Broken Hill Club have banded together to prepare a special meeting for our members at their Golf club Track on the 23rd of August 2014. A number of our members have already indicated their desire to ride at this event. Broken Hill always puts on a good event so everyone check the calendar and cancel all other bookings and just get up there.
• I would like to take this opportunity to thank all club members for their efforts at Committee level and members helping out on event days. It is very pleasing to see individuals take on tasks and help keep the Club running smoothly.
Remember, – get fit, Keep fit, ride your Mountain Bike.
