Presidents report, February 2014

Dear Members,

Early February has been very hot this year on and off the track. The first meeting for the season was held on the 2nd of February. Due to this hot weather, the track was shortened, but the 35 attendees still rode their best given the circumstances.

Also:

  • Good to see the Women’s contingent doing battle with Genelle coming out on top again. It is very pleasing to see the competition in the Women’s events getting as serious if not more so than the Men’s events.
  • The juniors (as did we all) found it a little hot but still managed two laps.
  • The men’s event was won by Sam Barnden with Erin Baxter only 26 seconds behind. Erin is in the district for a few months and I’m sure we will see him at more events and leaving his mark on our club records.
  • Damien lead Jason on his single speed bike also in A grade to finish 3rd and 4th respectively with only fractions between them on the finish line.
  • After the event many of the competitors had a cooling dip in the Murray River to help alleviate the chronic heat build-up from racing.
  • Also it was appropriate that instead of the usual BBQ at the race end, Committee elected to provide Lencia iced Cruncha’s which went down a treat.
  • Remember we ask all riders to keep to the formed tracks at all times. Some track changes may occur over the season and we ask all riders to take note and abide by these changes and not use any closed tracks.
  • Most people will notice our website has been upgraded. This is a work in progress so everyone can look forward to more improvements in the future.
  • It is a pleasure to note the involvement of members at the events and Working Bees. When pack up time comes it is all hands on deck.
  • With the siting of our 40ft container in the Coomealla Club Carpark it would be good for all members to take a turn to pick up and return the trailer and equipment at each event. So I ask all members to put their hand up for a turn at this small job, your help would be much appreciated. You will need a towbar on your vehicle and the key, which can be obtained from Nick or me. Some keys will also be distributed among other club members. Phone Nick 0428307618 or myself 0427614131 if you are able to do this job at an event.

Regards,

Phil Sullivan President
